It makes me sad that Trump will use whatever he can to distract people from the real issue at hand. It seems that immigration for Trump is always used as a bargaining tool/bribe to get what he wants from the Democrats and/or change the conversation from the current issue and have people bicker about immigration. As a son of immigrant parents from Korea, it hurts me how negatively he talks about immigration. He himself is an immigrant and his wife came to the US via "chain migration" which is also the same system he wanted to abolish. It amazes me that this man and so many anti-immigrant people can have this anti-immigrant mentality when the majority of people in this country are immigrants. My brother-in-law is from Pakistan and is a lawful US resident. He is a physician serving patients of all backgrounds in a large city in the East coast. He's on the frontlines doing the hard and scary work so the rest of us can stay home, be safe and be healthy. I don't know about everyone, but to me that's the most American thing ever: to serve others. Just as JFK once said "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." I think many people forget the important role immigrants play and too easily jump to conclusions and make assumptions. It's just sad to me that yet again Trump is too busy talking about immigration instead of helping people in the US and trying to flatten the curve. Somehow opening up beaches in Florida and other businesses in the South is suddenly more important than anything else. The country is already facing a huge lack of resources to test people and yet Trump is ok with governor's opening up some businesses where people can be infected and not even know and thus further spread COVID-19. So somehow he is ok with that, but not ok with immigration. I really don't know his reasoning, but to me it seems like a clear cut political move to get people talking and to change the subject. It's pathetic and disgusting.
