Responding to Rosie on the UN conference: The studies presented at this conference were specifically & intentionally not suggestive of solutions, the idea was to provide the information with which world leaders could make decisions. The purpose of this is to separate the science from the politics. I think because of this, its actually as far away from alarmist propaganda as it possibly could be; it attempts to be a pure delivery of information. In a world where science denial and convolution of reality is rampant, I think it makes sense as a strategy to present this vast amount of well-supported information delivered by 234 scientists from 66 countries - it makes it much harder to continue to deny these things with such a resounding consensus. Unfortunately people continue to find any sort of way to wriggle away from the inconvenient truths with which they are presented - often just to be contrarian, or to express a systemic distrust - so the scientific world continues to search for new ways to make it clear that these critical warnings are irrefutable.
Today’s “have a nice day” was a real joy. I appreciate that section being included and love seeing the creative ways people find to serve within their communities
