I agree with Michael S. Elmaleh, and am also a 71 year old, who has worked with both speech therapy and geriatric programs for most of my life, I think he's doing really well, he's got a lifetime of experience, and although I'd actually wanted a different candidate at times, I feel he's doing a superb job, we are all under stresses, and that makes the stutter a bit more and he's done the same gaffe's over the years, wishing him lots of good leading ahead, and thanks for the platform Isaac.

A confused and slightly compromised Biden on his worst day is an infinitely more capable President than the deranged narcissist Trump. That said it is disappointing that the we live in a gerontocracy. I say this as a 71 year old boomer who wishes that our entire generation would get off the stage.

Isaac: On your past Tangle June 11th about climate change, did you ever receive what is below?

If you would like to see what the video of those Scientists are researching, just email me.

________________________________________________

I finally had a chance to read your Friday post on Climate Change today! And, I think you make some very good points! Seriously, I do!

But all of the data I've seen is based upon change in at most the includes just the last 200 years. Don't get me wrong .... I'm not arguing against man taking action to not be a source of the problems seen. We should!

But our planet has been around for a long time! Thousands of years in fact (and perhaps more)! And, even our knowledge of written and recorded time goes back over 2,000 years. So why do we limit our thinking to 200 rather than at least 2.000 years?

Look at the video I have attached which is Scientists doing research that goes back 10,000 years. If you watch it to the end, I think the real question he poses is ... "Did we base our "science" starting at the wrong place?" Look at the chart he shows, as it certainly isn't a 200 year view!

As a Professor Emeritus after 35 years of teaching at Purdue University, there are a couple of statistics that I know are true! And those are, less than 10% of people embrace "change" and the "new"! Roughly 15% of people will accept "change" only if and when forced to - look at real information. So, that leaves 75% to 80% of people who will fight change to their last breath saying, "It has always been (or done) like that"! And all of those except for the top 10% or less use their parents or at most their Great Grandparents, to reinforce their point of view.

And, I know those statistics are true as I wrote and created the Purdue MFA program in "Engineering and Technology in Theatre". That program as bridge studies has led to massive changes in Audio, Lighting, Stage Rigging, etc. over just the last 40 years for the Performing Arts.

Hi Van, I'm a Tangle editor and a co-writer of that article you are referencing.

I'm unsure how to take this critique. The article you're referencing does includes a discussion of anthropogenic increase of carbon into the atmosphere from over the past 200 years or so, and is accompanied by a chart depicting atmospheric carbon over the past 60 years. However, that section is immediately followed by a discussion of atmospheric carbon from the past 800,000 years and is accompanied by a chart. That section is then followed by a chart and discussion of carbon and temperature over the preceding 500 million years.

I agree that people are very reticent to changing their minds on an issue, but I don't know what you're driving at with your comment.

I think a couple things are true:

1. Biden is experiencing cognitive decline

2. He’s been an elected official longer than most of his voter base has been alive

3. He could probably do most of this stuff in his sleep anyway

4. I’m sure Harris is running a lot of things behind the scenes, that’s what a VP is for

5. Probably not anything to be alarmed at but I will be genuinely surprised if he isn’t significantly worse in 2024, and I would bet money he won’t make it til the end of a second term. I think Harris will take over at some point if he wins a second term (which he probably will).

Best Tangle lately. Yet another fine (and nowadays rare) example of honest reporting: balanced, fair, insightful, and comprehensive. Except, the truly scary elephant in the room is not Biden's mental acuity. It is who would replace him as president, were he found unfit to serve.

Hi, Isaac, I really liked your essay tonight. Well done. I’m a 60+ neuropsychologist and I thought all of your points were well-taken and helpful. Thank you.

I don't think you have to worry, Isaac. I watched most of both videos and Biden seems older, maybe a bit tired, but fine in the last one. Yes, when we age, we tend to go slower--actually, I predict that when all you young whippersnappers are 78,79, and your cognition is being questioned, you will look back to this moment and maybe wince. That being said, I am grateful for your concern about our government. Reagan probably had Alzheimer's for at least half of his presidency--not sure who was running the show then. But the country survived. I agree with Michael and Martha below. I thank God for Biden, Harris and all the other intelligent, concerned people leading the country now.

The presidency has always been analogous to the great OZ. The people behind the curtain run the country.
