Term and age limits. Good idea for SCJ and even better idea for congress and senate members. I have to believe that Democrats would love to vote for someone other than Steny Hoyer, Bill Pascrell, Grace Napolitano, Marcy Kaptur or Diane Finestein and Republicans would like to vote for Republicans other than Hal Rogers, Chris Smith, Pat Roberts or Mitch McConnell.

Say 8 yrs and you're out or you can't run after age 70. Also no lobbying or employment in any industry where you were on a committee that oversaw government contracts.

Great read. I'm all for the term limits on the court. I do think it would help "lower the temp". Which we sorely need.

Also, I think you should have left the "Isaac's take" at 2 points. The Court's job is NOT to "represent the wishes of the American people." The legal system would be even more of a mess than it already is if it were.

Isacc's take on the three fundamental concerns is correct to a certain extent. The third concern should not include the justices representing the wishes of the American people. The main function of the court is to interpret the constitution as written and fluid as society's norms change from time to time.

"Bipartisanship is hard to come by these days. Even tougher is productive, worthwhile action on issues related to mental health. " BRAVO to CO Legislators for getting something/ANYTHING done, especially as it relates to the current mental health crisis faced by our nation's children. The most recent data is sobering and alarming. Many studies point to alarming rises in teenage depression, anxiety, and other serious mental health challenges; combine this data with the fact that we already know up to 80% of mental disorders first occur before the age of 26...and this is akin to a neighborhood standing on the sidewalk watching a housefire grow into an inferno in the moments before the firetruck arrives. Do we really want to all stand around and see if an entire generation of kids suffers long-term damage from a year that for many US children, brought times of isolation, missed or slackened education, uneven nutritional support, decreased physical activity, and the absence of supervision by advocates and support professionals among only a few of the negative experiences from the recent pandemic. Washington would do well on this topic to follow CO's lead and get increased mental health support out to our kids now, otherwise, the house will be gone by the time the truck arrives.
