I agree with you, Isaac. The Biden administration has tried to make our withdrawal look competent, and it’s good that we got over 100k out, but the failures are not going to be changed magically into successes by starting a new war in Afghanistan. Get out and stay out.
Ok, this will sound cynical, but I think if non-Muslim nations would butt-out, there would be a period of instability as various Muslim sects fought it out for supremacy but it would be a war of their own making. Why do Americans want to give them a common purpose by creating martyrs?
I have often thought that if the Arab nations wanted the destruction of Israel they would leave them alone to self destruct as the religious and secular Israelis went toe to toe. Instead they provide all Israelis a common foe that threatens their existence and keep the nation more or less united.
"This is what losing a war looks like," says Isaac. So right, and we ought to know it by now. We have lost the last four in a row. To win a war costs trillions. To lose, ultimately, costs all that you've got. When we resettle several hundred thousand Afghanis in the US, how many of them will be undercover ISIS terrorists? How many more ISIS will simply slip across our open southern border? Meanwhile, the big question today is, "What would Kamala Harris do?" She is, after all, next at bat. And as Yogi Berra famously said, "It ain't over 'till it's over." Today, it is far from over.
Twenty years, and a world having lots of other issues. Terrorists, and religious zealots need to be worked with to make some kind of better world for women and children...our future.
Amen! Yes! And thank you for the clarity.
Preach, brother.

Yes x100. Get out and stay out.

I was against all of this in Iraq and Afghanistan in the very beginning. Before the war drums started.
People said unequivocally we'd be out in a matter of months
My intuition told me otherwise.
So how many unvetted terrorists have we evacuated to Europe and the US?
Unbelievable this was handled so ineptly.
